5 charged with murder in 2008 Kershaw County death

CAMDEN, S.C. (AP) — Investigators say five men already behind bars are now charged with murder in the 2008 death of a man during a robbery in his Kershaw County home.

Authorities say the tip that led them to the arrests came while deputies investigated a different deadly home invasion in May.

Investigators say 23-year-old Frank Singleton is charged in both killings, while 21-year-old William McKnight Smith, 22-year-old Richard Roach III, 24-year-old Darien Jackson and 27-year-old Randy Lewis are all charged in the 2008 death of Robert Mackey.

Deputies say all the men are in prison either serving time for crimes or awaiting trial in other cases. It wasn’t clear if they had attorneys.

Authorities say Mackey was shot several times.
