Richland County Sheriff’s Department has arrested Alfred Matthews after an assault at a bar in April, says RCSD.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a security guard after an assault at a bar in April, says RCSD.

On April 27, shortly after 11 p.m., deputies responded to a report for an assault that had occurred sometime between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. at R&B Bar & Grill.

RCSD says video footage was obtained of the assault showing the victim being struck in the head with a pool stick.

During the investigation the suspect was identified as Alfred Matthews, who was working as a security guard at the bar that night.

The victim suffered a traumatic injury to the head, received 8 staples in the head, and spent several days hospitalized, according to RCSD.

On Tuesday, May 13, RCSD’s Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Matthews on a warrant obtained by investigators for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Matthews was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and received a $30,000 surety bond.
