Remebrance Project Rolls Through Columbia

   COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ One of two decommissioned New York City rescue trucks that responded to the World Trade Center on 9/11 is spending some time in Columbia this month.
 
   The truck appeared in Columbia on Friday and is expected to take part in the city’s Veterans Day parade on Monday. It’s also making appearances at some University of South Carolina home football games, as well as schools in the Columbia area and the Statehouse grounds.
 
   The visits are part of The Remembrance Rescue Project, a nonprofit created by firefighters to preserve and share the trucks as educational tools, artifacts and memorials.
 
   The truck leaves Columbia for Charlotte, N.C., on Nov. 24.
