RCSD: Juvenile arrested in connection with stolen vehicle, accused of vehicle collision

 

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department says a juvenile was arrested on Saturday night after a report of a collision.

Deputies say on Saturday night, May 17, around 9 p.m. they responded to the intersection of Farrow Road and Anders Drive for a report of a vehicle collision with injuries.

When deputies arrived to the scene they saw a white Acura involved in the collision, according to RCSD.

Multiple witness were able to provide the clothing description of a young, female who left the scene of the collision.

RCSD says after obtaining the address of where the vehicle was registered, deputies were made aware that a stolen vehicle report was simultaneously being made from that address.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found an open container of alcohol in the center console.

Video footage obtained, showed only one person in the vehicle driving recklessly on the roadway at high rates of speed, then eventually hitting another vehicle.

The 16-year-old was located and taken to a local hospital to be checked for injuries.

After being cleared, she was taken to the SC Dept. of Juvenile Justice (SCDJJ) with charges of possession of stolen motor vehicle and open container.
