RCSD: Westwood High School found with potential weapons, threatening notebook
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department says a high school student was found with potential weapons, and a threatening notebook.
According to RCSD, on May 19, the SRO of Westwood High School was notified when a student triggered the metal detectors due to the presence of sharp objects in his possession when entering the school.
A search of the student’s belongings led to school administrators locating a notebook from February with threatening language.
Additionally, several homemade items that could be used as weapons were also found in the juvenile’s belongings.
RCSD says the incident will be thoroughly investigated by the sheriff’s department and school administration.
Also, RCSD says at this time, there is no evidence to suggest that the students or staff of the school were in any immediate danger.
