Major utilities report 2,500 without power in SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The winter storm in South Carolina is expected to cause plenty of problems for the state’s utilities.

Forecasters say as much as an inch of ice is possible in the storm before it ends Thursday.

South Carolina Electric & Gas reports about 2,500 customers were without service early Wednesday. Almost all of the outages are in Aiken County.

Duke Energy reported no significant problems in its coverage area in the Upstate early Wednesday.
