Boogieing for Breast Cancer
Many of the employees, some of them cancer surviors themselves gathered in front of the Lexington Medical Center to take part in the Pink Glove Dance Contest. It’s an event that started 4 years ago when a hospital staff in Portland Oregon video taped a dance in their hospital, sporting pink surgical gloves. The video was posted on YouTube and went viral after getting 13 million hits. Lexington Medical Center is hoping they will be just as successful with the help of a crowd who danced to “firework” by Katy Perry for the video. . Organizers say this was one event that will be beneficial to everyone involved, by helping spread the word about Cancer and it’s prevention. Amy Stansell, an employee who took part in the event, celebrated 4 years of being Cancer free on Monday. Tuesday night she danced for joy knowing she was able to help raise money to fight a disease she says can strike without notice. Beginning on October 3rd, 2011, the video will be posted on www.pinkglovedance.com. Once there you can vote for your favorite entry. The winning team wins 10 thousand dollars that will be donated to the Breast Cancer charity of their choice.
