COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “Life is precious and I just think we need to cherish our kids, we never know what’s going to happen,” says Greg Owings, Principal of Dutch Fork High School. Outside Dutch Fork High School Tuesday the American flag flew at half-staff, a memorial marked the school’s fence and a teddy bear with flowers sat on the school monument. “We went down and had a slow memorial service this morning, student led, about 1900 students attended in the gym.” says Greg Owings Owings says the students are leading the memorials for 17 year old Da’Von Capers, a student we’re told was well-liked. “Very popular, quite, but I think he had a funny side to him as well,” says Owings Police say Capers, a Dutch Fork senior and football player was stabbed to death outside the Cookout fast-food restaurant on West Main street in Lexington following a basketball game between Lexington High School and Dutch Fork. 18 year old Kierin Dennis has been charged with murder in connection to the case. At this time, we do not know what led up to the fight-turned stabbing.
