The average price of gas rose slightly in the past week, matching a similar rise in gas prices nationally, according to GasBuddy price reports.

Gas prices rose 2.1 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging at about $2.47 per gallon Monday, GasBuddy’s survey of 3,028 South Carolina stations reports. Despite the minimal rise, these prices are still 4.8 cents lower than a month ago and a total of 16 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Price reports state that the cheapest surveyed station in South Carolina was priced at $2.43 per gallon Sunday while the most expensive was near double that at $3.89 per gallon. For a difference of $1.46 per gallon in between the cheapest and most expensive reported stations, motorists may want to be particular about where they fill up this week.

Meanwhile nationally the price of gas also rose 3.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging at $3.12 per gallon Monday.

The national average is down 2.1 cents per gallon from a month ago and is still 18.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
