South Carolina Department of Public Health measles update

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Public Health says there are three new cases of measles in the state since Tuesday, Dec. 23.

The new cases now bring the total number of cases in South Carolina related to the Upstate outbreak to 156 and the total number reported to DPH this year to 159.

The three new cases resulted from a previously reported school exposure, according to DPH.

There are currently 252 people in quarantine and three in isolation.

The latest end date for those currently in quarantine is January 15, says SCDPH.

DPH encourages those potentially exposed to notify a health care provider of the exposure before seeking care to allow arrangements to be made in clinical settings to protect others.
