“No Blood for Oil,” — Protesters rally at Statehouse over capture of Venezuelan president
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Local protesters took to the Statehouse on Saturday in opposition to the military operation in Venezuela.
The protest was part of a national emergency day of action called by The Answer Coalition (which stands for Act Now to Stop War and End Racism).
Around 50 protesters carried signs, some that read “No U.S. War on Venezuela,” “No Blood for Oil,” and “Bombing Innocent People for Oil Will Be Your Legacy, Not Ours.”
“There is absolutely no justifiable excuse to invade another country for the natural resourecs that exist in that country just to enrich the elite of our country, says Samantha Rainwater with The Answer Coalition.
“We don’t need more war in the world right now and the United States is the number one enactor of violence in the entire globe right now,” says protester Enid Campbell.
Protests are expected to continue at the Statehouse in the coming days.
