Hearing on bill to impeach Solicitor Byron Gipson to be held Tuesday
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– At the SC State House a house subcommittee will hold a hearing Tuesday, Feb. 17, to discuss a bill to impeach 5th Circuit Solicitor Byron Gipson.
The bill accuses Gipson of misconduct in office in relation to the case of Logan Federico’s murder last year.
The lawmakers behind the bill accuse Gipson of engaging in the disposition of an inmate’s sentence without properly notifying the victim’s family members.
Also, he is accused of having the inmate’s sentence reduced by sixteen years or more in an order kept from public inspection, and mishandling this and other criminal dispositions.
Solicitor Gipson’s office says they’ve been in contact with Federico’s family since the suspect was arrested.
