Air Canada CEO steps down

(CNN)– Air Canada’s CEO is stepping down.

Michael Rousseau’s retirement comes just days after a high profile deadly crash at New York’s Laguardia Airport.

Two pilots died and dozens of passengers and crew members were injured when the plane hit an emergency vehicle on a runway.

Air Canada has been working on a succession plan for Rousseau for more than two years though.

An external global search to look for candidates started in January.

Rousseau has led the company for nearly two decades.
