SC VA recognizes former prisoners of war, spouses

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The Dorn Veterans Administration Medical Center in Columbia is holding a luncheon to honor South Carolina veterans who were prisoners of war.
VA spokeswoman Priscilla Creamer (KRAY’-mur) says Friday’s event is scheduled for the auditorium on the medical center’s campus.
Creamer says many of the former prisoners of war who are expected to attend from the Columbia area were held during World War II.
Creamer says the event also offers the opportunity to provide recognition to the veterans’ spouses.
