Advocates call on governor to keep state’s congressional map in tact

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– With the Senate voting not to take up redistricting earlier this week, some Republicans are calling for Governor Henry McMaster to call lawmakers back to Columbia to take up the issue.

This afternoon, Thurs, May 14, groups such as the NAACP, the Legal Defense Fund and others gathered at the State House.

They are asking the governor to stand by the previously held vote and keep the state’s congressional map in tact.

The push for redistricting in South Carolina began when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Louisiana could redraw its districts ahead of the coming midterms.
