SC recognizes law enforcement across the state

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– There are thousands of men and women who work in law enforcement across South Carolina and Tuesday, May 19, the state recognized the best of the best.

Governor Henry McMaster and the Department of Public Safety held the law enforcement officer of the year ceremony earlier today.

There were eleven finalists for three awards at the state, county, and city level.

This year’s winners are Lieutenant Jamie Shaw with SLED, Lieutenant Alex Clark with the York County Sheriff’s Office, and Sergeant Christopher Bellamy with the North Charleston Police Department.

The only Midlands officer nominated today was Lance Corporal Joseph Murphy of the Columbia Police Department.
