CRFD 3rd shift crews control Sunday morning 2-alarm fire

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– CRFD 3rd shift crews worked together to control a Sunday morning 2-alarm fire in northeast Richland County, said CRFD.

Crews worked to stop the fire in one home on Westmoreland Road and kept it from spreading to the home next door.

Firefighters responded to the scene at around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, July 5.

Rescue 3 arrived to find heavy fire working up the exterior of one home and flames lapping at the neighboring property, said Columbia-Richland Fire Dept.

Rescue 3, Engine 4, and Engine 34 made an interior attack on the fire and kept it from spreading further throughout the first home.

Engine 32 pulled back up lines and worked to protect the home next door.

Crews on Engine 32 and Engine 12 also went through the neighboring home with a thermal imaging camera to confirm there was no further fire spread interior, according to CRFD.

Everybody in both homes made it out safely and there were no injuries.

The home where the fire started is uninhabitable at this time and three adults and one child have been left displaced, said the fire dept.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
