Ceremonial signing of Emma’s Law

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – A monumental piece of legislation, concerning drunk driving in our state, will be back in the spotlight. On Wednesday, Governor Nikki Haley will take part in the ceremonial signing of Emma’s Law at the State House. It requires anyone with a first conviction for DUI – with a blood-alcohol content of .15 or greater – to get an ignition interlock device for six months. The law is named for six-year-old Emma Longstreet, who was killed by a drunk driver in January 2012 on her way to church.
