LEXINGTON SC (WOLO) – Manmade Gourmet’s Love It or Chuck It: Garlic Butter Cheeseburger rollup
There is just something about garlic butter and burger, right? What about with a baked rollup?
Per usual, we tried to stick, as best we could, to the recipe that we found…
Here is what you need:
- Spaghetti
- Cheese Sticks
- Parmesan
- Tomato Sauce
How to make it:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper so the rollups bake evenly without sticking. The kitchen will begin to warm with a little hint of butter as the oven comes up to temperature.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, seasoning with salt and pepper and breaking it up with a spatula, until nicely browned and no pink remains, about 6 to 8 minutes. You should see tiny browned bits forming on the pan that add deep flavor.
- Drain any excess fat from the pan to keep the filling tender not greasy, then stir in the garlic butter so it melts into the beef, coating each crumb with glossy, fragrant richness. The aroma of warm garlic will start to fill the kitchen.
- Add the shredded cheddar to the skillet and stir until the cheese melts and combines with the beef into a creamy, slightly stringy mixture that clings to a spoon. The texture should be thick and cohesive, easy to portion onto dough.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough on a lightly floured surface, press seams to seal fully, and cut the sheet into rectangles roughly the size of an index card, so each rollup holds a spoonful without overfilling. You will feel the dough become soft and elastic as you work it.
- Place a spoonful of the warm beef mixture near one edge of each rectangle, fold or roll tightly away from you, and pinch or fold the seams to seal so the filling stays inside while baking. Each roll should look neat and compact, with no exposed beef.
- Arrange the rollups seam side down on the prepared baking sheet, brush the tops with a little extra
- garlic
- butter for shine and extra flavor, and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until puffed and a deep golden brown. You will know they are ready when the tops are glossy and the edges flake slightly.
- Let the rollups rest 2 to 3 minutes after baking, then serve warm with optional chopped onions, pickles, or your favorite
THIS is where the inspiration came from!
Lessons learned / tips:
- We did a little less rolling and a little more closing it in, a roll would have allowed for more meat
- Putting some mac sauce on them would have been awesome
