Irmo Firefighters rescue vehicle submerged in river

IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– Irmo Firefighters responded to a vehicle submerged in the water at Saluda Shoals Sunday, Sept. 14.

According to investigators, after 3 p.m. they responded to find an SUV completely submerged in the river near the lower boat ramp after the driver attempted to load a kayak.

Authorities say the driver was able to swim to safety and the SUV was pulled out of the water.

Firefighters say no injuries were reported and the vehicle didn’t release any chemicals into the river.
