Fisher staying mum on QB Manuel’s playing status
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher isn’t saying whether EJ Manuel will play at No. 21 Clemson.
Manuel and two top receivers are listed as questionable for the 11th-ranked Seminoles in today’s Atlantic Coast Conference opener between ranked opponents. Manuel did not practice all week while nursing a separation to his non-throwing left shoulder leaving freshman Clint Trickett to work with the first team.
Fisher said Kenny Shaw will play if medical officials determine there has been no relapse of concussion symptoms from a vicious hit he suffered in last week’s Oklahoma game that resulted in an ambulance ride to the hospital. Receiver Bert Reed missed last week’s game with a sprained ankle and is also questionable for Saturday’s game.
Florida State hopes to snap a four-game losing streak at Clemson.
