Patient Deemed Not an Ebola Risk After Visiting Midlands Hospital

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A patients has been cleared of potential Ebola risk after visiting Clarendon Memorial Hospital Thursday, according to hospital officials. ABC Columbia News confirmed the patient, who recently flew on a plane from Texas, visited the hospital complaining of fever and muscle ache. Hospital officials confirm the patient had not been traveling internationally and did not have any known contact with someone showing Ebola symptoms. We’re told DHEC was contacted and the patient deemed not an Ebola risk. Director of Public Relations for Clarendon Memorial, Jeffrey Black says this is the third patient they have contacted DHEC about since Saturday. None of the cases were deemed Ebola risks. Black released a statement that says, in part, “The safety of our patients, their families and our employees will always be our top priority. Our staff has been in multiple trainings daily, and we will always err on the side of caution.”
