College of Charleston workers get bonuses

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Employees of the College of Charleston will get bonuses of up to $3,000 by the end of the year.

The Post and Courier of Charleston (http://bit.ly/pu5d2m ) reports that the one-time bonuses will be paid for in part by tuition from a higher-than-expected student enrollment.

College vice president Steve Osborne says the bonuses will average about $2,000 and will be awarded on merit. He says they are being given in place of cost-of-living raises.

The bonuses will cost the college about $3 million.

The most any worker can get is $3,000 and there will be no bonuses for employees making more than $100,000.
