Settlement in North Augusta police shooting of 68-year-old

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A $1 million settlement has been reached with the North Augusta police and officials in Edgefield County in the case of a 68-year-old black man shot to death by a police officer after a slow-speed car chase last year.
Attorney Carter Elliott says the North Augusta Department of Public Safety, Edgefield County and its sheriff’s office have agreed on the settlement with his clients, the family of Ernest Satterwhite.
The 68-year-old great-grandfather was shot to death after a slow-speed chase as he parked in his own driveway. He was shot by North Augusta Public Safety Officer Justin Craven. The 25-year-old white police officer repeatedly fired through the driver’s side door.
Messages were left with the North Augusta police, Edgefield County and Craven’s attorney, but there was no immediate response.
