50-year-old Lexington County man killed in home

CHAPIN, S.C. (AP) — A 50-year-old Lexington County man has been shot to death in his home, and the sheriff’s office is seeking the public help.

Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said in a release Saturday that David Kent Cannon died after being shot multiple times in his torso.

Metts says officers found him dead in his home near Chapin shortly after noon Friday. The sheriff says investigators determined that he was shot between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Friday, and that it was not a random act. Deputies believe Cannon knew the suspect.

Metts is asking that anyone with information call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
