Wofford College to host GOP presidential debate

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina Republican Party says GOP presidential candidates will debate at Wofford College.

Party Chairman Chad Connelly announced Wednesday that the debate in Spartanburg on Nov. 12 will be presented by CBS News and National Journal. The debate focusing on national security and foreign policy start at 8 p.m.

Organizers say the debate will last for 90 minutes. The first hour will be broadcast live on CBS. The rest will be broadcast on “Face the Nation,” CBSNews.com, and NationalJournal.com.

CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley and National Journal’s Major Garrett will moderate the debate hosted by Wofford.

Topics will include the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq; changes in the Middle East, Africa and Asia; and the nation’s efforts to fight terrorism.
