Reward Offered in Search for Missing Toddler
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The Columbia Police Department is now offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who has information leading to the whereabouts and return of 18 month old Amir Jennings. This comes on the heels of new revelations from search warrants executed by police. “Where is Amir?,” says Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott. That’s the question Columbia Police have been trying to answer for weeks now. 18 month old, Amir Jennings hasn’t been seen since Thanksgiving and his mother, 22 year old Zina Jennings, isn’t helping find him. “We’re talking about a mother who is intentionally leading investigators in the wrong direction,” says Chief Scott. So far, police have searched in 3 states including Georgia and North Carolina. “She can’t tell investigators or she won’t tell investigators where she left Amir,” says Chief Scott. Police have also reached Zinah’s Mother’s home on Lady Street and Zinah’s car. In search warrants obtained by ABC Columbia News, we learned police found stains consistent with blood on pieces of clothing and blankets in Zinah’s car. Police are not saying if the blood is Zinah’s, whom they say went to the hospital for a minor injury from a car accident on Christmas Eve, or if the blood is Amir’s. The search warrant also says a shovel was taken from the Jennings’ home as evidence and that Zinah’s stepdad reported seeing her in the back yard of the Lady Street home, with a shovel. Police say the evidence has been sent to the state lab for analysis. Meanwhile, they say they are continuing to search for Amir without Zinah’s help. “At this point, Zinah is not communicating to law enforcement,” says Chief Scott. That’s because police say she has obtained an attorney. So, with her silence another day passes and Amir is no where to be found, but police say the search is not over. “It is not encouraging that we don’t have Amir back yet, but I refuse to give up hope, I refuse to stop, our investigators, this is a daily, hourly um with them working on it, we’re just simply not going to give up,” says Chief Scott.
