Myrtle Beach man sentenced for accessory charges

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — A Myrtle Beach man charged in connection with the shooting death of a Coastal Carolina University student has been sentenced to two years in prison and four years of probation.

Twenty-year-old Demario Stukes was sentenced in Conway on Wednesday.

Stukes had pleaded guilty in March to accessory after the fact of murder. Circuit Judge Benjamin Culbertson had ordered an evaluation before Stukes was sentenced.

Corey Brooks was shot May 25, 2008, outside a home in Myrtle Beach.

Stukes was originally charged with murder, but prosecutors agreed to the plea after he testified against two other men.

Twenty-year-old Keion Griffin was sentenced to life in prison for a murder conviction.
