Lexington deputies raise cash for Special Olympics
IRMO, S.C. (AP) — Lexington County authorities are holding sporting events to raise money for the South Carolina Special Olympics.
Sheriff James Metts says his deputies are helping coordinate golf and tennis tournaments Friday at The Club at Rawls Creek.
Metts says a community festival Friday will feature static displays of the sheriff’s department helicopter and a robot that the department’s bomb squad uses.
The K-9 unit will conduct demonstrations, and authorities will prepare fingerprint identification cards for children who are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
