COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina standouts Melvin Ingram, Stephon Gilmore and Alshon Jeffery are among those who worked out for about two dozen NFL personnel at the Gamecocks’ stadium. Ingram is a defensive end and Gilmore a cornerback, both are projected as first-round selections in next month’s NFL draft.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Former Winthrop basketball coach Gregg Marshall is headlining a list of five elected for enshrinement into the Big South Conference Hall of Fame. In nine seasons at Winthrop, Marshall won seven tournament titles and six regular season championships. He finished 194-83 overall for the Eagles.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte Bobcats are the latest team to have no answer for Minnesota’s Kevin Love. Love had 40 points and 19 rebounds on Wednesday night and the Bobcats lost to the Timberwolves 88-83. Corey Maggette had 22 points for Charlotte, which has lost five straight.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) — Bristol Motor Speedway owner Bruton Smith says he’ll make changes to the track after spending a week reviewing input from fans. Fans have clamored for him to return it to how it was before a 2007 reconfiguration added variable banking in the corners.
