West Columbia Has a New Mayor

W. Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Bobby Horton has been elected as West Columbia’s new Mayor. According to unofficial results from Tuesday night’s municipal election, Horton topped incumbent Joe Owens by more than 540 votes. The end of Owens term as mayor was mired in controversy after reports surfaces that he was recorded using a racial slur during a telephone call. Owens is also suing six members of the West Columbia City Council for defamation of character. This will be Bobby Horton’s second term as mayor having served as mayor from 2003 to 2011.
