Some SC State workers not turning in accreditation paperwork

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina State University officials say some employees have not been turning in paperwork the school needs to maintain its accreditation.

Trustees meeting Thursday said any worker who threatens the school’s accreditation by not doing their job should be let go.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/1HMM4gC ) the university has turned in the first draft of its report to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The university’s accreditation committee says there were documents that should have been included in the report that were never given to the committee.

South Carolina State was put on probation in the summer of 2014 because of its financial problems.

Losing accreditation would likely mean the school would have to close.
