FEMA closing several disaster recovery centers for a day

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is temporarily closing several disaster recovery centers in South Carolina due to weather concerns.
Spokesman Jim Homstad says centers in Bamberg, Goose Creek and Conway will close at noon Wednesday and reopen at noon Thursday. The forecast calls for thunderstorms across parts of the state, and those centers are under tents.
The federal agency opened disaster centers to help victims of last month’s historic flooding. Representatives of several agencies are available at the centers to explain disaster assistance programs and help them apply for aid.
