Muffin is a five-year-old miniature horse. She’s now South Carolina’s first ever therapy horse to help firefighters save lives. But don’t worry, muffin won’t be putting out any fires. According to Lindsay McDade, Muffin’s handler, she’ll be sparking connection, conversation, and hope with individuals around the community during drug prevention efforts.
After taking in the entrance to the 103,000 square-foot-facility, guests enter into the new 1,500 seat theatre — complete with a full orchestra pit, manual rigging, overhead catwalks, four dressing rooms, a green room, and catering kitchen.
“Columbia Housing history is civil rights history,” says CEO Yvonda Bean.
“At last check, Richland County has 4,200 small businesses and operations right here in Richland County. That’s a 26% increase from our prior years,” says Derrek Pugh, Vice Chair for Richland County Council.
“What I will tell you is, for 29, David lived. He lived a beautiful life for a young man, and I try to bank on the way he lived his life and not the way he left,” Jodi says.
“I would describe him as a light that walks into a room. You know? He had a way of making everybody feel special,” says Jennifer Windham.

Michael Bundy, the CEO of the Prisma Health Midlands Market, says the new 134,000-square-foot facility will include four operating rooms, 110 examination rooms, an outpatient pharmacy for easier access to medication for patients, and more.
The fourth and fifth graders took part in an “MLK Oratory Competition” — reciting a three to five minute long speech from memory.
“This is such a fun opportunity for us to host the “Job Olympics” for our students with disabilities. It gives them a chance to highlight all the skills we’re working on in our job skills classes. It gives them a chance to not only practices those skills but celebrate the hard work that they’ve done in building these skills throughout the school year,” Slatton says.
