COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Dawn Staley got the first real confirmation of her team’s toughness against Syracuse four months ago. South Carolina’s coach hopes to see that affirmed in Sunday’s NCAA Tournament second-round game with the Orange.
Top-seeded South Carolina faces its second rematch in as many rounds of the NCAA Tournament, taking on Syracuse at 7 p.m. on Sun., March 22, on ESPN. It will be the final chance for the home fans to see the Gamecocks (31-2, 15-1 SEC) at Colonial Life Arena during this historic season. South Carolina rallied from a double-digit deficit to defeat Syracuse (22-9, 11-5 ACC) earlier this season at the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas.
The University of South Carolina football team worked out at the new practice fields on Saturday morning in full pads. It was the squad’s fourth practice session during the first week of spring drills.

Zach Lavy’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning helped lift Missouri to a 3-2 win over fifth ranked South Carolina on Friday night at Taylor Stadium. Missouri improves to 17-5 and 4-0 in the SEC with the Gamecocks falling to 17-5 and 3-1 in league play.
