Gamecocks Beat Bulldogs In Athens 64-58

It would need all 40 minutes, but South Carolina would exorcise its road woes with a win at Georgia Tuesday night. After running out to a big halftime lead, the Gamecocks steeled themselves and held off a rally to secure a 64-58 win. It is the team’s first true road win since Dec. 1, and moves them to 13-12 overall and 4-9 in the SEC. Georgia drops to 16-9, 7-6.

Caldwell Helps USC Beat Furman 5-2

Senior outfielder Elliott Caldwell went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a three-run triple and freshman right-hander Clarke Schmidt worked 4.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn his first career win as fifth ranked South Carolina defeated Furman 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks are now 3-1 on the year with Furman falling to 1-3 for the season.

Martin Suspends Henry And Sheppard

University of South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin announced on Tuesday that sophomore forward Demetrius Henry and freshman guard/forward Shamiek Sheppard have been suspended for the remainder of the regular season due to conduct detrimental to the team.

Proveaux Finishes 3rd In Los Angeles

Clemson junior Cody Proveaux finished third among the 14 college players who competed for a spot in the Northern Trust Open College Showcase on Monday, Feb. 16. Proveaux shot a one-over-par 73 to finish third behind Will Zalatoris of Wake Forest (67) and George Cunningham of Arizona (72).
