USC & Clemson Women Set For NCAA Showdown

The South Carolina women’s soccer team earned its seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last eight years when the 64-team field was announced Monday afternoon. The No. 3 seed Gamecocks will host the first round of the tournament, welcoming Clemson to Stone Stadium on Friday at 6 p.m.

USC Announces 2015 Baseball Schedule

The South Carolina baseball team announced today the 2015 schedule that features 36 home games at Carolina Stadium as well as 24 games against 2014 NCAA Tournament teams. The Gamecocks open the season on Friday, Feb. 13, hosting a three-game series vs. College of Charleston.

Ellington Injures Ankle

Former Gamecock two-sport standout Bruce Ellington was carted off the field with an ankle injury in the 2nd quarter in New Orleans Sunday and did not return to the game. Fellow former Gamecock Chris Culliver intercepted Drew Brees just before halftime to help San Francisco win 27-24 in overtime.

Clemson Wins Big In Exhibition Over Anderson

The men’s basketball team held Anderson to just eight field goals and a .157 shooting percentage in Clemson’s 62-36 exhibition victory in Littlejohn Coliseum on Saturday. The Tigers held the Trojans without a field goal for a 16:37 stretch that spanned the break, and saw the defense force 19 straight misses.

Benedict Ends Season With Loss To Paine

Paine College took advantage of a pair of Benedict turnovers to take a 45-34 victory over the Tigers in the annual Augusta City Classic on Saturday.

The Lions, in their first season of varsity football after a 51-year absence, won their first SIAC game of the season and just their second game all season to finish the season 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the SIAC.

Benedict finished the season at 4-6 for the second year in a row, 2-5 in the SIAC.
