Clemson Shut Out & Swept By Wake Forest

Wake Forest scored six two-out runs in the fifth inning and blanked Clemson 7-0 in front of 1,461 fans at Wake Forest Baseball Park on Saturday afternoon. The Demon Deacons, who swept the series 3-0, improved to 32-22 overall and 13-17 in the ACC. The Tigers, who lost by more than five runs for the first time in 2012, fell to 32-24 overall and 16-14 in ACC play and will be the #5 seed in the ACC tournament.

Gamecocks Lose Out On SEC Championship

In a battle for the SEC championship, second ranked South Carolina and ninth ranked LSU fought back and forth with the Tigers scoring twice in the 10th inning with two-out RBI singles from pinch hitter Jackson Slaid and first baseman Mason Katz and despite a rally from the Gamecocks in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly by Christian Walker, the Tigers held on for a 3-2 victory to clinch the weekend series against the Gamecocks. LSU is now 42-14 and 19-11 in the SEC with South Carolina at 39-15 and finishing 18-11 in league play, one half game behind the Tigers for first place.

Clemson Loses 2nd Straight To Wake

Brett Armour’s two-run homer in the eighth inning broke a scoreless tie and Wake Forest held on for a 2-1 win over Clemson in front of 1,241 fans at Wake Forest Baseball Park on Friday night. The Demon Deacons, who took a 2-0 series lead and clinched a spot in the ACC Tournament, improved to 31-22 overall and 12-17 in the ACC. The Tigers fell to 32-23 overall and 16-13 in ACC play.

Former Clemson Receiver Dies In Accident

Former Clemson wide receiver Brian Wofford died Friday morning when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in an accident in Moore, SC. Wofford, 34, was struck by an automobile at the intersection of Reidville Road and Plateau Street near Highway 417 at 11:15 AM.

LSU Beats USC 5-2 In Series Opener

LSU right-hander Kevin Gausman hurled a complete game and was backed by homers from Mason Katz and Jordy Snikeris as the ninth ranked Tigers defeated second ranked South Carolina 5-2 in game one of a doubleheader at Carolina Stadium. South Carolina is now 38-14 and 17-10 SEC with LSU 41-13 and 18-10 in the SEC.

USC-LSU Game 1 Postponed, Doubleheader Friday

The South Carolina-LSU baseball game scheduled for Thursday, May 17 has been postponed due to rain in the Columbia area. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, May 18. First pitch for game one is set for 2:30 p.m. Following the conclusion of the game, the stadium will be cleared. The second game is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Gilmore Signs $12 Million Deal With Bills

Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore is ready to compete for a starting job, after the first-round draft pick signed a four-year contract worth about $12 million on Thursday. The deal was announced by the team, and included Buffalo CEO Russ Brandon posting a photo on his Twitter account of Gilmore signing his contract.
