Clemson Crushes Holy Cross, 16-4

Richie Shaffer tied a school record with three doubles and Phil Pohl, Jon McGibbon, and Dominic Attanasio all set career highs for RBIs in #19 Clemson’s 16-4 win over Holy Cross at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Wednesday. The Tigers improved to 6-4 on the season, while the Crusaders dropped to 3-5. It was the first meeting between the two since the 1958 College World Series.

South Carolina State had three players in double figures but was unable to overcome 19 turnovers and a poor-shooting opening half in dropping a 62-53 decision to Bethune-Cookman Tuesday in the opening round action of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament at the Joel Coliseum.

USC, Clemson Hold Steady In New Rankings

USC and Clemson baseball remain relatively steady in this week’s new college baseball polls. The Gamecocks (9-1), who took two out of three against the Tigers over the weekend, stay at #2 and #3 in the three major polls. Clemson (5-4) is ranked between #15 and #20.

Clemson’s Young Makes All-ACC Defensive Team

Senior guard Andre Young was one of five players named to the ACC’s All-Defensive Team on Monday, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA). Young also earned honorable mention in the voting for the All-ACC teams. He was joined on the All-Defensive Team by John Henson (North Carolina), Bernard James (Florida State), Jontel Evans (Virginia) and Michael Snaer (Florida State).
