The Columbia-Richland Fire Department says at least four people are now without a home, after a fire spread through a house around 9:40 a.m. on Whitney Street. Officials say the fire is out, and no one was injured.

After fire Thursday night, Hammond School working on learning plan for pre-k through 4th grade students
Today, students in pre-k through 4th grade did not have class at Hammond School, after a fire last night. The head of Hammond School says they hope to have a plan for students to learn tomorrow.
Just before 11 a.m., crews with the Columbia-Richland Fire Department say they were dispatched to a house fire in the 300 block of Carriage Oaks Drive.
“There’s a blood crisis right now, the lowest supply in 10 years,” said Sally Fox, American Red Cross account manager.
No injuries were reported after a home caught fire off of Chaney Street this afternoon.
