U.S. Rep. James E. Clyburn said Friday he has secured $50 million in federal funding for community projects across South Carolina’s 6th Congressional District as part of a broader federal spending package approved by Congress.
Rep. James Clyburn, South Carolina’s only Democrat in Congress, had high praise for California Gov. Gavin Newsom as he swung through the Palmetto State.

Alongside Congressman Jim Clyburn, Cardona made stops at Voorhees University And Denmark Technical College in Bamberg County speaking about several crucial issues in education.
Clyburn says part of improving rural South Carolina includes improving water quality.
Senator Lindsey Graham and Congressman James Clyburn both responded to the president’s State of the Union Address.
“I thoroughly feel just as warm about Lakeview today as I did back then,” says Isola Washington-Calhoun, who graduated from Lakeview High in 1947.
“The main reason why people leave rural communities is not because people don’t like the quietness or the beautiful streets but because it lacks what they need,” Saluda’s mayor said. “Broadband will help bring some of those resources in.”
