Palmetto Health Baptist breaks ground

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Three years ago, Palmetto Health Baptist broke ground on a $57 million expansion and renovation to the women’s and surgical services area.

On Friday, the hospital unveiled the fruits of that effort.

It includes the renovation of 16 labor and delivery rooms and the addition of five new operating rooms.

Officials say the massive undertaking was necessary to meet patient demand.

Palmetto Health’s Caroline Seigler says, “One of things that always happens in providing health care is that technology is always changing, therefore patient needs are changing.”

The renovations also included moving admissions to the third floor with easier access to the Sumter Street garage.
