COLUMBIA S.C. (WOLO) — For the first time, Lexington County law enforcement officials combine their efforts to protect citizens on Lake Murray during the July 4th Holiday weekend. Tuesday, members of the Lexington County Marine Patrol Dive Team and Emergency Medical Personnel conducted real-life training situations in order to enhance their ability to safely remove injured persons from the lake and transport them on fire-rescue boats to seek medical treatment. Officials say as many as 5,000 boaters could converge on the lake this weekend and they want to be prepared. Lake Murray covers 76,000 acres of land, spanning 629 miles of shoreline, 73% of which is located in Lexington County.
