Columbia mom arrested after 3 children home alone

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Columbia woman has been arrested after her three children were found home alone while she was working.

Thirty-four-year-old Monica Wilson was arrested when she got home Wednesday after police found her children who range in age from 11 months to 9 years home alone.

A neighbor called police after hearing someone crying.

Wilson told police she left the children to go to work. Police Chief Randy Scott says the youngsters were alone at least 90 minutes.

Wilson is charged with illegal conduct toward a child. It’s unclear if she has an attorney.

The children are in the custody of the Department of Social Services.

Another Columbia woman, 22-year-old Kayce Nichol Peay, was arrested on the same charge Wednesday morning after her 3-year-old daughter was found in a street.
