Trip to grocery store saves man’s life

INMAN, S.C. (AP) — A Spartanburg County man says he’s thankful he left his mobile home to run errands moments before it was flattened by the wind. Eric Hines says he left his Inman home to go to the grocery store Saturday afternoon. He was only a half-mile down the road when his cell phone rang. A neighbor had called to check on him after seeing his home destroyed. Neighbors say the wind lifted the home off the ground and flipped it over before it crashed in the roadway. Other mobile homes nearby were not damaged. Hines says he lost everything, but he’s thankful no one was killed or injured. He has no insurance. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press.
