Joint Base Charleston hosts annual Run the Runway

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Joint Base Charleston is using its runways as the site for its annual hosting its third annual Run the Runway on Veterans Day.

Friday’s five-kilometer run includes portions of the flight line at the air base. The event is open to all military, Department of Defense civilians and members of the local community.

Civilians must enter the base starting at 7 a.m. and will be shuttled to the start of the run. Registration for the race had to be completed in advance at www.active.com. The number of runners is being capped at 1,000 participants.

The 437th Airlift Wing and the 628th Air Base Wing Support Group are managing the event.
