Clemson Baseball Will Remember Preseason Polls

(WOLO) — Jack Leggett is entering his 19th season as the Clemson baseball coach with a chip on his shoulder. The Tigers, picked to finish third in the ACC this year, were left off the preseason top 25 lists. That doesn’t sit well with a coach that’s made the NCAA tournament in 17 of his 18 seasons. “I told these players the other day,” Leggett said Monday at his team’s first public preseason workout. “I always think we are going to win every game. Going into the season, we are going to be 56-0. Going in to every single game, I expect to win. “I don‘t really put much stock into preseason polls, even when we are ranked #1 or #10. I never put much thought into it or even mention it to the team. I did mention this one to the team, because if we play with a chip on our shoulder and practice with a chip on our shoulder, we might be a better team because of it.”
