3 people rescued from Saluda River

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Three people and a dog have been rescued from the Saluda River by firefighters in Greenville County. Parker Fire Chief Steve Alverson says a 48-year-old man and two brothers, ages 15 and 17, were pulled from the river on Sunday afternoon after they had trouble with their boat. Deputy Fire Chief Tommy Thomas said the group was fishing in a 10-foot jon boat when it was caught in rapids, hit a large downed tree and overturned. Thomas says the victims were holding a tree when rescuers arrived. He says two of them were wearing life jackets. The names of those in the boat were not released.
