Advancement of SC Spending Plan

  COLUMBIA,SC (AP)–  The House budget-writing committee is advancing a spending plan that would give most state employees a 1 percent pay increase, provide $250 million for roadwork and cut income taxes by $130 million. Ways and Means tentatively approved Wednesday a $7.5 billion plan for state taxes that spends an additional $300 million on kindergarten-through-12th-grade education.
