Bill Aimed at Banning “Parody” Marriages

Columbia, SC (WOLO) —-

A group of Upstate Republicans are challenging the US Supreme Court’s ruling legalizing same-sex marriage.

Earlier this month the lawmakers introduced the Marriage and Constitution Restoration Act.
The bill defines marriage as between a man and a woman and any other unions would be deemed a quote “parody” marriage.

The lawmakers allege that the Supreme Court’s ruling violates separation of church and state by entangling the Government with the religion of secular humanism.

Jeff Ayers, the Director of S-C Equality released a statement in response, saying in part,
“Bills like this are hateful, discriminatory and only make it more difficult to recruit new business to South Carolina.”
